Josh Crickmay to continue with DMP this season

Mowden Park prop Josh Crickmay has become the latest to re-sign with the club ahead of the upcoming National One campaign. Having joined from Huddersfield last summer, Crickmay heads into his second season at the Arena. Asked about extending his stay at the club, he commented: “I really enjoyed my first season at DMP. I can’t wait to get back out there with a great bunch of lads and push up that table.”

The South African front rower had a big impact in his first season in the North East, making 24 appearances and missing only a handful of games through injury. Crickmay scored 3 tries in the process, most notably a vital try in the win over Rams in October.

Crickmay joins fellow front rowers Alfie Barron, Carl Guest and new arrival Sam Kyle-Clay in signing up for the 2022/23 season. DMP Forwards Coach Joe Cain was pleased to be retaining Josh for another year: “Having Josh re-sign for DMP is great. He brings a different style of play to many other tightheads in the league. He’s been working hard in the off-season and we are starting to see huge strides in the right direction. We are very much looking forward to seeing him play this season.”
