Mowden Park can confirm that club captain Joe Craggs is currently sidelined following a broken arm sustained during the fixture against Hull on 22nd November. With the severity of the injury unclear at the time, Joe was taken straight to hospital where it was confirmed he will be out of action for at least 9 weeks. Remarkably, across 240 1st XV appearances, this is the first injury Joe has been unable to shake off.
Speaking to Craggsy, he admitted he is gutted to be missing out on the action but wanted to share his gratitude:
"I'd like to thank all the players, staff, sponsors and supporters from DMP & beyond for their well wishes. This injury won't stop me supporting from the touchline, and i'll be behind the lads every step of the way."
Joe also paid tribute to interim captain Liam Checksfield, who has stepped up to lead the side in his absence:
"Checks will be brilliant in taking the armband and I've no doubt he'll do a great job keeping it warm until I'm back"
Mr Mowden may be down, but he certainly isn't out and he can't wait to return to the pitch in the new year!
