Andy was a committed youth coach with Mowden for over ten years, working with a range of young players and colts during his time with the club. He was hugely respected by his fellow coaches, and those he supported in the game, always on hand with an anecdote or quiet word of encouragement. He also continued to be an active fan of the club at league and cup games. And he stayed in touch with many of those he coached over the years, tracking their progress in rugby and life.

Andy was also a proud Scotsman, often going to see his national team play and reminding his English colleagues of their run of form in recent years. He had particularly enjoyed Glasgow’s win in the last year’s URC tournament and had only recently watched them beat fierce rivals Edinburgh on a memorable afternoon with his family and hosted by his nephew Glasgow Warriors Captain Kyle Steyn.

He will be missed by all at the club, and we send our thoughts and condolences to Nicola, Kyle and Neve.

We will be holding a minute's applause in Andy's memory prior to our next home game against Blackheath on 25th January.
