Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the signing of Chris Campbell ahead of the 2022/23 National One season. The former Mowden lock returns for his second spell at the club, and has already linked up with the squad in their pre-season preparations. Asking about making the return to the Arena, Campbell said: “Happy to be back. I’ve got loads of good memories from my previous time at Mowden. It was great to see lots of the same people still around and involved with the club.”

“I’ve moved back into the area with work, and it was a simple choice to return back to Mowden, as I knew it would still be the same quality environment to play and train in.”

Campbell was a regular in the DMP second row during his previous spell – playing for the club between 2011-15, including their promotion to National One in 2014. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, he said: “I’m aiming to get back to playing some regular rugby, and help the team get back towards the top end of the league.”

DMP Forwards Coach Joe Cain added: “We’re really excited to see Chris put a DMP shirt on this season. He’s trained very well and brings something new to the squad which we were maybe missing last season. At 6’5 he’ll add great value to the lineout and he’s someone who I’m sure will step up to the plate and give a really good account of himself.”
