Cain Previews Friday Night Lights

DMP Forwards Coach Joe Cain looks ahead to Friday's clash with Leeds Tykes (7.30pm Kick Off).

Seven weeks into the season and Mowden lie in 8th place in the National One table, 2 points ahead of Friday's visitors Leeds Tykes. Round 7 saw Mowden leapfrog Jon Callard's side in the table, despite a narrow defeat to Birmingham Moseley on Saturday. The Moseley defeat saw DMP come back from an 18 point deficit to lead in the final stages, before a last minute penalty denied them a memorable win.

Asked about the weekend's game, Forwards Coach Joe Cain commented: "The Moseley defeat was a tough one to take especially taking the lead so late on in the game but we came out on the wrong side of the result. It’s so important to take losing bonus points in this league as the competition is so tight. We’ll work hard this week at training to try and put right some of the things that went wrong at Moseley."

Mowden now return to the Arena for Friday night's blockbuster clash with Leeds Tykes, who hold a similar record to DMP after the opening 7 rounds. Their last Friday night trip to the Arena in April saw the visitors take a 15-30 win, and Cain was keen to reverse that result this time round: "Leeds are a good side and we know what they can bring to the table. We’re trying to focus on us this week to make sure the lads are ready to go on Friday night."

Last season's Friday night fixture attracted a season high attendance, and Cain was optimistic of another strong local crowd: "We’re hoping for a big turn out from the home fans this week and I’m sure they’ll turn up and make themselves heard. Hopefully the lads can do the business and we can get the result on the night!"

Tickets for Friday night's game are available priced at £12 for adults, £8 for club members and FREE for Under 16s. You can get your tickets online by clicking here.
