Darlington Mowden Park fell to their third loss of the Premier 15s season against a strong Bristol Bears outfit. A blitz of first half tries put the hosts in command, before DMP rallied with an encouraging second half performance.
The hosts opning the scoring after just 2 minutes as Ellie Mulhearn powered over from close range. Phoebe Murray added a second soon after, before Clara Nelson made it 3 after 15 minutes. The aforementioned Murray scored the Bears fourth try after a deft grubber from Lucy Atwood, wrapping up the try bonus point inside 25 minutes.
DMP hit back with a great score of their own, Rosie Blount started the move as she broke from her own five metre line, before Kat Hobson found a gap in the Bears defence to race through and score. Blacklock's conversion reduced the defecit to 17 points, before a further 2 tries for the hosts put the result beyond doubt. Clara Nelson scored her second on 30 minutes, before Lilly Stoeger-Goddard raced away for her side's 6th try. The score made it 36-7 to the Bears at half time.
The second half started as the first had finished, with Stoeger-Goddard getting on the end of a free flowing move to dot down for her second. That was the end of the hosts scoring however, as the Sharks dug in to prevent any further tries. Their second half performance was rewarded shortly before full time, as Rachael Woosey showed an impressive turn of foot to sprint clear of the Bears defence and score in the corner. Beth Blacklock added the tricky touchline conversion to make the final score 41-14.
The Sharks now face a weekend off before welcoming Richmond to the Northern Echo Arena on Saturday 13th October as part of another double header with the Men's 1st XV who take on Sale FC.
