Darlington Mowden Park will be hoping to make it 3 wins on the bounce on Saturday when they travel to West Park Leeds RUFC to take on Leeds Tykes. As Mowden's closest National One rivals, Saturday's game promises to be another entertaining clash between the two sides.
Leeds currently sit in 13th place in the Nat 1 table, with 4 wins and 2 draws from their 18 games so far. 2 of those wins have come at home, with victories over Chinnor and Hull as well as a draw against Cambridge all at The Sycamores. Last weekend saw Jon Callard's side fall to a narrow defeat away at Bishop's Stortford, in similar fashion to DMP's trip to Silver Leys earlier in the season. Leeds had led at half time, before an agonising finish saw them fall to a 14-17 defeat despite being camped on the home line late on.
Mowden meanwhile ran out 22-21 winners over Moseley last weekend in a similarly nervy finish at the Arena. Mowden had led 22-7 thanks to tries from Ben Frankland (2) and Josh Crickmay, before a late comeback from the visitors saw DMP cling on to victory by a single point. The win saw Mowden climb to 8th in the table, 16 points ahead of this weekend's hosts.
The two sides have met three times previously in National One, with Mowden winning 2 and Leeds 1. DMP's last trip to West Park Leeds ended in a 22-23 win back in March last year, with tries from Ben Frankland and Talite Vaioleti edging out a close fought game.
This weekend's game promises to be another entertaining clash between the two Northern rivals. A reminder to all travelling fans that the game kicks off at the earlier time of 1pm, with tickets available on the day priced at £10 for adults and FREE for Under 16s.
