After 3 weekends without a game DMP return to National One action on Saturday with an away game against Bishop's Stortford in Round 15. Both sides sit in mid table heading into 2023, setting up an intriguing clash to kick off the calendar year.
Saturday's hosts currently occupy 6th place in the table, sitting 6 points ahead of DMP. With a record of 7 wins from 12 games to date, Stortford will be hoping to pick up where they left off after a 38-30 home win over Esher last time out. Their only home defeats have come to Cambridge, Rams and Sale FC, all of whom occupy the top 4 heading into the second half of the season.
Mowden will be hoping to start the year with a win, having ended 2022 with a narrow away defeat to Esher in Round 13. DMP's record of 5 wins and 8 defeats has seen them sit in 8th spot, having picked up a league high 6 losing bonus points from a string of narrow defeats. A win on Saturday could see Garry Law's side climb into the top half of the table heading into another away trip to Cambridge next time out.
Previous clashes between the two sides have largely gone the way of the North East side, with 6 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses for DMP since Stortford's promotion in 2017. There have been a number of close games, with 7 of the 9 meetings being decided by 7 points or less. The last game between the two sides saw the Hertfordshire side take a last minute 24-25 victory at the Arena in September thanks to a late Dan Cole penalty.
This weekend's game should be another hard fought clash between two closely matched sides. You can follow live updates via the BSRFC Twitter feed.
