After an impressive away win at Sale last time out, DMP will be hoping to make it back to back wins when they welcome Cinderford to the North East on Saturday. The visitors are unbeaten so far this season, and will provide a tough test for Garry Law's side in Round 3.
Cinderford have made a positive start to the 2023/24 campaign, with narrow wins over Bishop's Stortford and Leicester Lions. They are one of just 4 teams to have won their opening 2 fixtures, after finishing last season in 7th place in the table. Last weekend's home game against Leicester Lions saw the newly promoted side lead 13-14 at the hour mark, but a brace of tries from winger Mason Tonks ensured Cinderford came away with the victory.
Mowden meanwhile faced a tough trip to Heywood Road in Round 2. After an opening day defeat to Chinnor a strong performance in the North West saw DMP take a hard-fought 21-28 win. Tries from Josh Ree, Callum Pascoe and Ben Frankland helped Mowden to their first win of the league campaign, after a 10th placed finish last season.
Since Cinderford's promotion to National One in 2018, the two sides have met on 6 occasions with Cinderford winning 4 and Mowden the other 2. DMP supporters will take heart from their recent home form against this weekend's opposition though, with Mowden coming out on top in their last 2 home league encounters. Their last meeting at the Arena came in last December, with a 33-15 win in Round 12.
DMP Forwards Coach Joe Cain commented: "First home game this weekend against Cinderford will be a real test, they are a big physical side and we will have to be at our very best to get a result against them. Back to training this week in preparation for the first home game of the season, hopefully we get a big crowd in to really get behind the lads."
Tickets for Saturday's game are available both online or on the door priced at £12 for adults, £8 for club members and FREE for under 16s. You can get your tickets online by clicking here.
