Darlington Mowden Park face their penultimate away trip of the season on Saturday as they visit Cinderford in a 3pm kick off. The Round 24 clash sees Garry Law's side looking to do the double over Cinderford for the first time in National One.
Saturday's hosts currently sit in 7th spot in the table, having won 11 of their 23 games to date. Eight of those wins have come at Dockham Road, including impressive home victories over high flying Rams and Sale FC. Last weekend saw Cinderford suffer a narrow away defeat at Bishop's Stortford, as a late Reece Dean brace wasn't enough to overcome the hosts in a 19-18 final scoreline.
Mowden meanwhile suffered a home defeat to 2nd placed Sale FC last time out. Despite leading 10-7 at the break, a strong second half from the visitors saw them take maximum points in the North East. The defeat leaves DMP 10 points clear of the relegation zone heading into the final 3 rounds of the season, where a win on Saturday would all but ensure DMP's National One status for 2023/24.
Since Cinderford's promotion to National One in 2018, the two sides have met on 7 occasions with Cinderford winning 4 and Mowden the other 3. Their last meeting came in early December as Mowden ran out 33-15 winners in one of their performances of the season so far. Tries from Liam Checksfield, Matt Minogue (2), Ollie Hodgson and Morgan Passman saw DMP take maximum points back in Round 12.
Saturday's game promises to be another closely fought contest between two sides looking to finish the season on a high. You can follow live updates from Saturday's game via the Cinderford Twitter feed.
