Near on 15 players arrived to pull on the blue and white Mowden jersey in what proved to be a test of rugby skills and endurance against the elements!
With non stop rain on a sodden corner of the top pitch the under 8’s and the under 7’s played 2 games each following much huddling under trees for shelter. Once the players were warmed up and in their stride they showed a blatant disregard for the bad weather by putting on an energetic display of running rugby with end to end try scoring action. Under 8’s managed a draw and a narrow defeat to a well rehearsed Durham side but dazzled the crowd with some superb individual runs by players. The under 7’s fared better with a win and a draw under their belts, again end to end action.
Despite the weather it was clear that the players had had a great time as evidenced by muddy grins all round, with the only regret of the day with this match reporter unable to record final scores due to a note book reduced to wet mush!
Many thanks to all our determined players, wet and cold parents and exhausted coaches!
