Players & Parents,
The pride in the new shirts didn’t stop the team getting stuck into Darlington, Bishop and the mud of Blackwell Meadows on Sunday. Following a boost from the County 7s we were great against both; neither side getting the better of us, although Darlington pressed for half a game. A strong defence and committed rucking won us possession and territory which inevitably produced tries. Notably for Tibbie McDonald who after the ball had been scrumhalfed from the back of a ruck on the opposite side of the field and passed through a string of hands to reach her, she hurtled over the line. With Jack, Sam, James and Ethan among others scratching the score sheet we looked good. It’s the work done making opportunities by the rest of the team tackling, mauling and rucking that was good to see. There’s some handling skills to improve on to get the ball moving away from contact and into space but plenty to be pleased with. The support this week was fantastic and it’s nice to welcome back Jamie Reeves.
