A fantastic turnout for our first games of the season at Hartlepool. A smoothly run festival where we played Guisborough, Yarm, Hartlepool and West Hartlepool. We proved to be a strong tackling and rucking opposition in all the games and more than deserved our win. The level of commitment and effort taking a toll with injuries Tommy T - a cut eye lid, Nick a bruised shoulder and Mr McCue getting a kiss from his Mum after a bash on the nose. Our fitness and moral started to tell in last game but I feel we’ve made a good start to the season.
There were some very good personal performances on the field today notably Tibbie Mcdonald in her first competitive game held the ball, made ground in attack and put in some well executed tackles. Oscar not only made some crunching tackles but his presence in the ruck and on the ball was awesome. George’s determination and skills are winning the team possession and ground in every game. Ethan’s charging tries and try saving tackles into touch are keeping the score board tidy. Jack’s sniping runs are leading our attack and his determined defence is helping win ball. I can see Rhys, Ben Lear, Eoghann and Kieran growing in confidence in the contact area and with the ball and Mathew is making his presence felt getting stuck in at the ruck making his tackles and keeping the ball alive. Well done each and everyone.
There’s plenty to feel good about and some work to do. Training Wednesday18.15 and home to Ryton & Sunderland or training on Sunday.
Cheers Simon
