U16s bring home the Lingfield Cup from Darlington Festival.

Yesterday saw the Mowden boys arrive at the Darlington Festival all fired up to continue their winning streak (alas the sun glasses clad parents were not quite so enthusiastic having celebrated the team's successes the previous night!)

The tournament saw Mowden face arguably the top 3 teams from the local area along with last years winners, Workington.

1st game v Billingham. 19 - 5. Having just beaten Billingham a few weeks previously in the County Cup Final, Mowden set out with all guns blazing just to ensure that there is no doubt that we are the County Champions. Billingham were obviously keen to prove otherwise. A strong display of rugby from Mowden provided further confirmation that we are worthy holders of the title (not that any was needed)

2nd game v Workington 27-0. A very satisfying win against the team who won last year's festival (not because they won more games than us but just because it was a draw between us and them and they scored more tries during the day so under festival rules were deemed the winners)

3rd game v Middlesborough 10-0 An unprecedented win against a team which have been seen as the top team in the area at our age group for as long as I can recall. Mowden proved to be the better team and played superb rugby to beat a team who are not used to losing. An absolutely huge achievement for Mowden.

Final game v Sunderland 14-0 Our second win against Sunderland this season. Again, another good team, another good win for Mowden.

It was fantastic to see the boys end their most successful season to date lifting the Lingfield Cup. Their commitment to training and fitness has paid off and they deserve their success. Oh, and did I mention, we are also COUNTY CHAMPIONS.
