DMP under 16 match report playing West Park Leeds away 8th October 2017

First Half
DMP under 16’s had an early start travelling away to West Park Leeds. Both teams face up raring to go and on the WPL kick off DMP counter through Sam Berry with an effective hand off along with kick & chase taking DMP just shy of the try line, DMP secure the ball at the ruck and present the ball nicely for Matthew White to go over for a try. 5-0 DMP.
On the kick off WPL look to retaliate with a score and following sustained pressure managed to run two tries in quick succession. 12-5 WPL.
Despite several positive phases and good defensive work from DMP, WPL use the sloping pitch to their advantage and just before half time find themselves up 29-5.
DMP look to get the last score before the half time whistle blows and with Ryan Gilligan securing the line out Will Todd is on the attack supported by Cameron B to run in a great try and converted by Ben Turnbull. 29-12 to WPL.

Second Half
Now it’s DMP’s turn to use the sloping pitch to their advantage GAME ON !!
Immediately DMP attack through Innes Hill and stiff right hand off presents the ball to Will Todd to finish off with a try. 29-17 WPL. DMP go again with Sam Shanks and Louie Groark making great ground and clean ball to whippet Aaron F to score. Converted by Louie Groark 29-24 WPL.
WPL realise that they are in a good game against a great DMP team. DMP looking the stronger in the scrums with Matthew Auger, Stephen Henry and Charlie Feary all working hard. Both forward packs battle it out with Joe Berry, John Mckenna, Will Hickerson, Matthew White putting the graft in for DMP both teams cancelling each other out until a WPL break and run 2 tries in quick succession 39-24 WPL.
On the kick off DMP play really positive rugby and capitalise on slow ball with Will Todd on the prowl managing to pick and go to run in a try converted by Ben Turnbull. 39-31 WPL .
What a good game of rugby being played by two very good teams! The last 10 mins of the game was played out with no score both sides not wanting to give an inch the game finished 39-31 to WPL.

Next game is away to Malton/Norton Sunday 15th October.

Next Sunday is my birthday so come on you have to win for me boys !!
