DMP v Carisle Match Report

The Game was played in 3 lots of 20 min spells.

The first 20 mins:
DMP start confidently with Matty White catching the Carlisle kick off and managing to set up an effective attacking platform at the half way line. With ball in hand DMP work through the phases with strong running from Tom N and Rob C along with hard work by the forwards seeing the ball pop out to Aaron to score in the corner. 5-0 to DMP.
Carlisle press on the kick off and win the scrum. DMP defend well with strong rucking from Louie G, Will H and Sam S, for a period both team forwards compete for possession until a big hit coming in from Sam B takes DMP forward and on the attack with some 3 phases later producing a try with Ezra scoring and Sam B converting. 12-0 to DMP.

The second 20 mins:
Carlisle start spritely and catch DMP snoozing to score. 12-5 to DMP. At the kick-off DMP immediately retaliate and Will Todd managed to steal possession from Carlisle linking up well with Aaron to move DMP to within a metre of the try line finished off by Reece L picking up and stepping through to score 17-5 DMP.
Again DMP apply pressure on Carlisle moving the ball quickly to Sol Kench to score in the corner. 22-5 DMP. On the kick-off Regan G and Innes H drive forward with aggression, Carlisle defending well turn the ball over and pin DMP back on the 5 metre line but with good hits going in from Ryan G and George Todd allowing DMP to clear their lines. Ref blows whistle 22-5 DMP.

The 3rd 20 mins:
DMP make a promising start with Sam B and Charlie F taking the team to a line out on the Carlisle 5m line. Carlisle win the line out and go on the attack, DMP do well to absorb the pressure but go offside at the scrum, Carlisle take advantage and run in for a try. 22-10 DMP.
Carlisle take advantage again from DMP spilling the ball to run a try in within a few minutes. 22-17 DMP.
On the re start DMP press with intent, Joe B charging down a Carlisle ball letting Ezra in for his second try. 27-17 DMP. Carlisle immediately respond and put DMP on the back foot and eventually scoring. 27-22 DMP.
We entered the final minutes of the game with both teams looking to close the game out with a win. DMP work hard and find themselves scrummaging on the Carlisle 5 metre line. Carlisle defend really well and break to score and win the game DMP 27 Carlisle 29.

Next game is the all important first round County Cup battle against Billingham. At home 17th Sept.
