Early promise and territorial dominance squandered as Durham managed only 2 forays into the Mowden half of the pitch, but scored on both occasions in a frustrating first half. Kieran Goddard with a fine solo try (well...he was carrying 3 Durham players en-route to the score line, so maybe not a solo effort after all) - a conversion & penalty kick from Sam Anderson narrowing the gap to 2 points at half- time;
Durham 12 - 10 DMP
A clearly frustrated U16's started the second half, but repeated errors coupled with some greedy ball carrying permeated a sense of unease which Durham exploited to the full, a series of 3 quickly converted try's and the hosts were out of sight, wrapping up the game with a further score late in the second half.
Durham 40 - 10 DMP
U16's suffered their heaviest defeat for some time, and a first for the season - some lessons to be learnt, with some players needing to take a long hard look at their own contribution to a poor team performance.
This squad of players have great potential - when they play as a team, with a collective goal they are capable of some inspirational rugby - let's re-group and strive for success throughout the remainder of the season.
