U16s - Wen Boro met Mowden

A different experience to the usual Sunday morning fayre of two halves of 35 minutes, Middlesbrough becoming late three way protagonists in the scheduled game at Wensleydale. The resulting tri-club encounter resulted in three games, each of approximately 35 minutes total game time.

Game 1 - Wensleydale 19 - 5 Mowden
Honours to Wensleydale in the opening game, but a disappointing start for the boys in blue and white after their performances in previous weeks. The first half was dominated by the home team and their runners through the midfield and superior work at the breakdown had them 12 - 0 up at half time. The second period was a much more competitive affair and the opening score came from Josh Brown with a surging run from the halfway line. The remainder of the half was an improvement for DMP, but once again Wensleydale shaded it with a converted try.

Game 2 - Wensleydale 0 - 19 M'Boro
The score is included for completeness and also puts the final game score into context.

Game 3 - M'Boro 12 - 0 Mowden
A number of comments from the Boro faithful that this was a much improved display from our boys following our December meeting and probably the best game of the three today (those present drew their own conclusions). The first half was decided by a try that shouldn't have been, coming from a knock on by a Boro player at the line, unsighted ref and certainly no hard feelings. Great competition in all positions across the park, both teams going in hard at the forwards and also spreading the ball out to the backs when possible. The second half was another close affair and with the wind at their backs the boys in blue and white can count themselves very unlucky to have succumbed to a single try. A thoroughly enjoyable game played in great spirit by both teams.
