This week the Mowden boys travelled to West Park Leeds the home club of Stuart Lancaster and took on their toughest challenge so far. WPL are the top team in Yorkshire at this age group and this was an ambitious fixture but one we were honoured to play.
It's fair to say we lost by a considerable margin. However, the game was far from one sided and the team played at a ferocious pace until the final whistle blew. We managed to put one try past the WPL boys which is an achievement in itself when you look at their track record. We also created numerous other opportunities. Several times we got the ball over the try line but gravity semed to be against us and we just couldn't ground it. The WPL team are a well drilled machine and as result of the game we have come away with clear areas of development which we can work on as a team in order to reach the next level. It is only by playing tougher opposition that we will improve.
It is to the credit of our boys that they gave it their all, came off the pitch smiling and said they very much enjoyed the game despite losing.
