U15's end season with runners up trophy at Darlington Festival

This weekend saw the team bring home another trophy to add to their growing collection. The tournament saw Mowden take on 4 teams these being Penrith, Ripon, Workington and Sunderland playing games of 12 minutes each half.
At the start of the day the boys had high hopes of winning this tournament but in their first game against Penrith, Mowden didn't find their recent form quickly enough and were defeated a very disappointing 10-7.
Mowden quickly raised their game and convincingly beat Ripon 20-0 followed by Workington 15-7. This put them back in with a chance of winning the tournament as the top 3 teams had each lost a game.
Unfortunately the rules of the competition stated that if points were equal then the win would be decided by number of tries scored in all matches. Workington had Ripon still to play and fortunately for them Ripon appeared tired and ready for home thus enabling Workington to score 48 points against them. In a race against the clock Mowden started their final game in a frenzied attempt desperate to score the required 8 tries against Sunderland to win the trophy. Alas this was not to be and they had to accept a 14-5 win and taking home a very respectable runners up trophy.
There was a little disapointment among the team that they had only come away with second prize despite their convincing win against Workington, the tournament winners. However, this just leaves us with more determination to better ourselves for next season with our aim being to be in the County Cup final!!
There were too many highlights to name individuals. Suffice to say that the team excelled themselves and made both coaches and parents extremely proud.
