Despite taking a healthy lead Mowden U14's made hard work of Morpeth

Mowden U15's got off to a sloppy start against Morpeth and two penalties in succession saw Morpeth crash over in the corner to take the lead, however a missed conversion was to be a recurring them for Morpeth.

Mowden went back to basics and simple ball out ot the backs and strong running from Alex and HarryP meant they had the opportunity to get under the posts for Ciaran and JonnyH to successfully kick.

Hard work by the forwards saw Alex just stretch out and ground the ball over the line, under the posts, with CallumW successfully converting. At half time this agve Mowden a healthy 21-5 lead.

However, Morpeth re-organised themselves and started to work on the scrums and breakdowns and it was not long before they had clawed back to 21-15, missed conversions and Mowden keeping them to the outside keeping their score down.

An excellent moment came in the second half when Morpeths number 8 was through on Callum Buckley, who had handled the ball well all game, despite his heavy knock from Billingham number 8. Morpeth's number must have thought this moment had come, but Callum Buckley invited him in and brought the number 8 down with such force that Morpeth's number 8 knocked on, not only a try saved but the ball won. Absolutely magnificent. Every member of the team has you noticed Callum, well done.

Morpeth stuck to task and another penalty saw a try saving tackle by CallumW 1 metre from the line, but insufficient support saw Morpeth pick up and crash over. Another missed conversion meant Mowden still had the lead 21-20.

Finally Mowden took the play into the Morpeth half and over eager play from Morpeth saw a penalty too close to Morpeths line and Mowden crashed over to take the score 26-20.

Despite hard work by Morpeth, Mowden kept the score as it was, too close for spectators but enough to win the game.
