A weakened Mowden U14 team, managed to pull together and win

With a beautiful morning and a run out on the first team pitch, Mowden U14's made hard work of the Hartlepool Rovers fixture.

With the virus and other activities affecting the squad and with two new players and Harry Brockbanks making a welcome return, Mowden Park still found themselves again with just enough players.

With Dom Morgan feeling unwell during the warm up and Martin Heskett, playing despite the onset of flu, this was going to be hard fixture.

However, Mowden carried the game to Rovers and after some work on Rovers 5m line and a held up try against Callum Worrall, Cameron Fletcher finally broke through to score in the 15th minute.

Despite decent runs by Chris Cran and new starters Alex Fullarton and Callum Buckley, Mowden Park could not break through Rovers tough defence.

Mowden were making sensible decisions, but Rovers were defending stoutly and also kicking sensibly to keep clearing their lines.

Then with Rovers having a couple of injuries and Mowden changing their plays to bring in the full back, Mowden started to create some space which resulted in Alex Fullarton running in 3 tries, to make the result flattering to Mowden. While Mowden had most of the ball and were certainly dominant in the scrums, winning nearly every scrum with bug pushes and great hooking, they did not turn the extra ball into scores.

Plenty to work on with passing plays being the focus for training next week as Billing will be a much sterner test for the Mowden boys, but once again another hard worked performance.

To say Martin Heskett felt unwell, he was still noted as covering acres of ground and always tends to create some space and has excellent ball retention.

Callum Sheridan kept driving the forwards and as such took the forward man of the match.

With Alex Fullarton's first performance and a hat trick of tries bringing him the back man of the match.
