“I'm really happy to be staying at DMP, I think the club is great environment to be involved in and we have a squad with a lot of potential, particularly with the new signings as well.”
Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the re-signing of Matt Dudman ahead of the 2019/20 National One season. The scrum half will enter his third season with the club, having signed from Rotherham Titans in 2017, and was pleased to be extending his stay at the Arena: “I'm really happy to be staying at DMP, I think the club is great environment to be involved in and we have a squad with a lot of potential, particularly with the new signings as well.”
Dudman has been ever-present during his 2 seasons with the club, making 42 league appearances with an impressive strike rate of 10 tries. The 25 year-old has highlighted his threat as an attacking runner this season, scoring 7 tries in just 23 appearances. Asked about his seasons with the club so far, Dudman added: “I have really enjoyed my time so far at Mowden. I’ve had the opportunity to play a lot of minutes which has been nice, and I’m looking forward now to seeing what next season brings.”
“There has been a lot of highlights in my time at Mowden and finishing second in the league in my first year was a good feeling. As for last season, beating Roslynn Park away last kick of the game was pretty special.”
The scrum half’s season has been disrupted by injury, keeping him sidelined for the first 3 weeks of the season, before a knee injury against Cambridge cut his season short, missing the last 3 as well. Looking ahead to his recovery, Dudman commented: “It's always tough being sidelined through injury, all I can do is focus on my recovery after the operation and get back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
