DMPRFC scored seven tries in this demolition of a Beverley RFC side, who initially matched their hosts for endeavour, but who were eventually outplayed as the floodgates opened.

Beverley RFC have had a poor, injury ravaged start to the season, but their connections hoped that with the return of club captain and talisman Dave Worrall after injury and with one or two other players returning, things might improve.

There is no doubt that they are obviously a better side with Worrall and rely heavily on his influence, but one player can’t do everything and as much as he tried to stamp his authority on the game and galvanise his team mates, things did not improve for the Beaver Park boys.

The first half proved to be a close contest and after an early penalty by Grant CONNON (3 – 0) Beverley, as expected, competed for everything.

As Beverley tried to kick out of defence, a charge down and follow up try by centre Cameron MITCHELL (8 – 0) in the second quarter of the game began the scoring, but the gusty wind affected normal service kicking duties.

To their credit, Beverley countered and after a break by their fly half, they were awarded a penalty, which he took himself and was successful (8 – 3).

Beverley continued to thwart the home attacks, but they were denied possession and rarely showed any attacking prowess themselves.

Skipper Junior FAGALILO scored his first try of the season, when finding himself in possession and cutting a line through the visiting defenders, after increasing pressure told (13 – 3).

The final score before oranges was a Grant CONNON penalty (16 – 3) but as the game shaped up, things were about to get worse for visitors, as the cracks were starting to appear.

Prop Danny DIXON opened the scoring after oranges, when after increasing pressure on the Beverley defence, he took the ball and two defenders over the line. (21 – 3) with Grant CONNON converting (23 – 3).

The writing was now on the wall for Beverley, who visibly wilted, as the home team began to pick them apart.

No.8 James KNOX and hooker Andy TONKIN were next to score, as DMPRFC upped the pace and looked to score from every attacking opportunity. Both tries were added to by Grant CONNON (37 – 3).

A superb individual run by Cameron MITCHELL followed a great restart take by debutant lock Tom SCHOFIELD and as the former scythed his way up field and offloaded an easy pass for centre Chris PEACE to score. (42 – 3).

There was still time for Max CONNON, who had now reverted to full back, to get on the score sheet, which he did when latching on to a chip ahead from Chris McTURK, to complete the try scoring, allowing his brother Grant to convert and complete DMPRFC’s tally (49 – 3)
