With Fylde RFC playing out the rest of their league programme in the knowledge that they will be playing their rugby in National League 2 (North) and conversely DMPRFC endeavouring to maintain their current 'silver medal' status behind promoted Coventry RFC, pride and prestige were the order of the day at the Northern Echo Arena.

The gap in league position was not evident in the first half, as DMPRFC, despite having the 'lions share' of possession, failed to ignite the decent crowd, with a mixture of decent visiting defence and frustration to register, combining to keep the score line neutral for almost the first quarter.

A succession of early penalties against the hosts hampered the hosts progress in the first quarter, until just before the end of the second quarter, after a strong catch and drive from the home pack was illegally brought down, a quick tap penalty saw fly half Warren SEALS burst through for the first points of the afternoon, (5 - 0), composing himself to slot a successful conversion. (7 - 0)

Within three minutes, the score had doubled for the hosts, as veteran lock Talite VAIOLETI added another (12 - 0), SEALS again converting. (14 - 0)

Some frustration continued, with DMPRFC unable to turn possession into points, but as oranges arrived there was another 40 minutes to 'crank up' the game plan and put on a decent try scoring performance for an expectant band of loyal supporters.

Despite some enterprise from Fylde's best player on the day in full back Tom Carleton, (son of ex-Orrell and England International wing John), Fylde succumbed on resumption of play, with DMPRFC running in a further four tries.

After only seven minutes after oranges, 'V' started the scoring with his second of the day (19 - 0), with SEALS adding the extras. (21 - 0)

Replacement lock Dan PRESTON-ROUTLEDGE was introduced on 58 minutes and could consider himself a little unlucky to last only five minutes, as he was sin-binned for a high tackle.

Flanker Joe CRAGGS weighed in with the next and bonus point try (26 - 0), with SEALS again succeeding with the conversion. (28 - 0)

Hard working home centre Ben FRANKLAND deserved the next try following a deceptive step which fooled the visiting defence and saw him over the line for DMPRFC 's fifth try (33 - 0), with the metronomic SEALS added yet another conversion before being replaced. (35 - 0)

On sixty-six minutes, Fylde No. 8 Tom Harrison was similarly sin-binned, after he was rather high in the tackle on Grant CONNON.

Fylde dug deep when reduced in numbers and during this period and weighed in with a consolation try from centre Connor Wilkinson (35 - 5), converted by scrum half Greg Smith. (35 - 7).

The visitors were further hampered and down to 13-players for a couple of minutes, when prop Richardson took exception to what he thought was a scrummage indiscretion and was sent to 'the cooler' where he remained for the rest of the game.

There was just enough time for DMPRFC to score a sixth try through No. 8 Matt HEATON. (40 - 7) and cement their second place, at least until the other results were known.
