The vast majority of home supporters who attended the game, left having been entertained by a decent performance from the home side, if not a little disjointed at times.
Six tries from six different players and one of the best tallies of recent season’s, realised five points towards the league total and sees an elevation to fourth position.
Lymm RFC had enjoyed a decent start to the season, accounting for Middlesbrough and Beverley on their home patch, but it was soon evident to the away connections, that there was probably going to be a different outcome in this game.
Half-time saw the score at 27 – 6, with tries from James KNOX, Matt LISTER, Todd HARRISON and Robin EATOUGH, the latter being an 80 yard solo effort. Gavin PAINTER added a penalty and two conversions.
To be fair to Lymm, a couple of tries were against the run of play, but they did not look like scoring and had to settle for a couple of penalties as their only contribution to the scoreboard.
It should have been all over at that time, with Lymm blown away with the pace and power of the home backs.
Unfortunately, being so far ahead had an adverse effect on the home side and they conspired to allow Lymm back into the game.
Immediately after oranges though, the introduction of Charlie SIMPSON-DANIEL produced results, when he darted away from the base of an attacking scrum, to score under the posts, the conversion easy for Gavin PAINTER.
Lymm rallied, scoring two converted tries as Mowden dropped the tempo and seemed to be going through the motions.
An unfortunate knee injury to replacement Ollie PETERS (pictured) seemed to galvanise the home forwards, who, bossed by Charlie SIMPSON-DANIEL, proceeded to dominate the final quarter, finding time for prop Ralph APPLEBY to scamper over, with the conversion coming again from Gavin PAINTER.
All in all, a pleasing result with decent and exciting periods of play from Mowden, but when teams are there to be put away, the team must learn to act accordingly.
