Another great performance against one of the sides at the top of the league.

With two outstanding performances against two of the top three clubs, the fact that we only managed one bonus point from the two games comes as scant reward.

With Stockport RFC gaining top spot with their 33 – 19 win over DMPRFC, the visitors can count themselves unlucky to have not come away with at least a bonus point from their endeavours away from home.

Stockport RFC have imported a big, physical side and therefore it is probably no wonder they are sitting at the top of the tree. However, Park matched them in the physicality stakes for long periods of the game and certainly created the chances to make the score line a lot closer.

We again struck first, with Ben SERU scoring his first on fifteen minutes, with the conversion struck sweetly by Ritchie YOUNG.

Stockport responded soon after with a converted try and went further ahead with another converted try on twenty five minutes.

Not to be outdone and well worth it at this stage, Ben SERU scored his brace and with Ritchie YOUNG converting, all was level at oranges and a fair result at this time.

There had been small off the ball incidents in the first half, which suggested that at some stage some fireworks were always on the cards and so it proved later in the second half.

Stockport scored a converted try after oranges and Park tries several changes to try to make the breakthrough. The home side always looked vulnerable when faced with pace and width, but a further home side converted try was to follow, as Park looked to step up the tempo.

This was successful, when Matty LISTER crossed for a well deserved try, as the home side tired in the forwards.

The predicted melee did arrive and some scores settled at this time, thankfully with no ill effect to both teams.

A final score to Stockport flattered the home side, but Park will be pleased with the effort and determination shown on the day.

After travelling the 117 or so miles, something to eat after the game would have been enjoyed, as is usually the case. The ‘alickadoos’ were even charged admission fee, which is something that is not the right protocol – what’s all that about Stockport !
