DMPRFC 37 v BLAYDON RFC 0

A comprehensive win against Blaydon RFC at Yiewsley Drive last night, was watched by a sizeable crowd, who were thoroughly entertained throughout with a convincing performance by the home side against the National League One outfit.

With nothing to lose and everything to gain from this encounter, DMPRFC went about their business with a determination that seemed to be lacking from the visitors.

Blaydon’s much bigger and heavier pack did not match up to the intensity of the occasion and the home forwards always seemed to get the better of the contact areas and collisions, which at times were ferocious.

Two early penalties from full back Gavin PAINTER, saw DMPRFC enjoy early success, with Blaydon continually straying offside.

New addition Chris McTURK scored a fine winger’s try before the break and with Gavin PAINTER adding the extras from wide out, DMPRFC took a deserved 13 - 0 lead at oranges.

No change after the interval, as after an initial brief revival by Blaydon, DMPRFC picked up where they left off, smashing into their opponents with the same intensity as had been previously witnessed, to totally dominate the game.

Further tries were scored by Chris McTURK, Matthew LISTER, Ralph APPLEBY and Alan JONES, two of which were converted by Gavin PAINTER.

DMPRFC managed to keep a clean sheet, which gave additional comfort as Blaydon constantly tried to add consolation points.

There will be those who will read into the fact that for whatever reason, Blaydon decided to field a spattering of 1ST XV, 2nd XV and new additions for this fixture, but the result will show a 37 – 0 win for DMPRFC and thoroughly deserved it was !
