As we all know, even at this stage of the season, there is no such thing as a friendly game of rugby and so it proved, as the two squads keenly contested each period.
National Division Two (North) side Harrogate RFC, who finished a very respectable fifth in the league last season were a stiff test of our progress so far and with their season starting early this season, their preparations are one week ahead.
Each club was anxious to run the rule over new acquisitions and although both sides had players absent for different reasons, the periods of play were open and entertaining for the home spectators and also for those who had travelled down the A1.
From a DMPRFC perspective, eleven players who had not represented the 1ST XV last season, took the field and performed well given the format of the game and connections were pleased that the additions to the squad had lived up to expectations.
Thoughts now turn to the Durham County Senior Cup home encounter against National Division One side Blaydon RFC and certainly a more different proposition.
Kick Off - 7pm Wednesday 17th August 2011.
