With just a month to go until the 2024/25 National One season, Darlington Mowden Park are pleased to announce the signing of hooker Jacob Newnam. The 21 year-old has already linked up with their squad ahead of next weekend's pre-season opener against Hawick. Asked about joining the club, Newnam said: "I'm excited for this season, looking forward to a step up and working hard."

Newnam has previously represented Glamorgan Wanderers, Barnard Castle and Wensleydale, after county age group honours for Durham at U16s through to U18s. Speaking about the second addition to the DMP pack, Forwards Coach Joe Cain added: "Jacob has settled in well so far through pre season. He looks a strong ball carrier and again someone who is prepared to graft. He’ll bring us another option at hooker and hopefully can continue to progress individually during his time with us at Mowden."
