Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to confirm that Cameron Mitchell, Ralph Appleby and Jack Allcock have agreed terms to remain at Mowden Park.

Mitchell (21) who currently captains the side has become a popular figure with both team mates and supporters alike. The illusive centres talents have been noticed further afield gaining him International honours when he represented England Counties earlier this year. Signing for his fourth season Cameron has racked up 37 tires over his 78 appearances for Mowden park.

“Cameron is a very talented player and to captain a successful team at the age of 21 is a real testament to the maturity and the respect he has among his peers. He has a very bright future ahead of him, and with him choosing to stay is great news for the club.” (John Newton- Director of Rugby)

Growing the squad is a big part of the Clubs development plan as reiterated by John Newton “On the one hand it’s great that we are now providing players with a platform to go and play at the highest levels. With equal emphasis we are also aiming to create an environment that players want to become part of, and grow within.

The re-signing of key players who have had significant interest from other clubs is best testament to getting this aspect right and a critical part in taking the club forward to the next stage. There’s a shared ambition that we are starting to instil. “

New to this season Jack Allcock (19) arrived at Mowden after a stint with Northampton Saints into what was already a very competitive back row contingent. Since joining has become one of the stand out players of the season. His seemingly disregard for his body makes him a nightmare to play against but an outstanding player to have on side, his physical attacking rugby has led to County and North of England Representations this season.

Head Coach Danny Brown expressed his delight at the resigning’s “It’s great that Cam, Jack and Ralph have all bought in to what are trying to achieve at Mowden Park, they have delivered good consistent performances throughout this season. Retaining good players creates a consistent environment which encourages player to stay and recruiting new players easier.”

Appleby’s (24) decision to extend his contract will see him into his 6th season at Mowden Park. Since arriving Ralph has made 128 appearances for the Club, during which time he has established himself as a regular starting prop in an ever growing pack.

“Ralph truly is a Mowden member and is always well supported at games by friends and family. He certainly is a great character to have around, he continually works hard both on and off the field and this is reflected on the pitch“ (Danny Brown)
