This weekend the men’s 1st XV make the day trip to Lancashire side, Fylde RFC (3pm Kick Off).

Woodlands memorial ground has been the North-West’s ground since forming in 1920. Fylde’s two most famous players were home grown, Malcom Phillips and Bill Beaumont. Malcolm Phillips, won 25 England caps at centre between 1958 and 1964 and became President of the RFU in 2004/5. The current Chairman of World Rugby, Bill Beaumont, capped 34 times for England and 21 times as Captain played at Fylde from 17 and stayed with the club until he was forced to retire.

So far, this season Fylde have won 3 games and gained 4 bonus points. Leaving them in 16th position on 16 points. Last weekend they picked up their most recent win at home against Bishop Stortford 29-22. Fylde’s top point scorer is Gregory Smith on 51 points and top try scorer is Thomas Carleton with 6 tries.

Points were shared between the two sides last year with either side winning their home fixtures. Early in the season Fylde won 31-25 at Woodlands Memorial ground and on the return fixture to the Arena Mowden won 66-22.

Both sides will be looking to keep momentum in their favour heading into the Christmas break and at separate ends of the table. Mowden will want to cement their place in 2nd whilst Fylde will be looking to climb up the table. It will be another tough fixture on the road for Mowden as we look to gain form away from home.
