Macclesfield RFC are the National League One visitors to the Northern Echo Arena this coming weekend.

Who could forget the ecstasy and the agony of that game which went down to the wire on Saturday 26th April 2014 at the Arena involving both sides and the subsequent contrast a week later, when the agony turned to ecstasy and DMPRFC joined Macclesfield RFC in National League One, at the expense of Ampthill & District RFC, in another nail biter.

Macclesfield RFC unfortunately, are currently propping up the league and like Loughborough University RFC and Old Albanians RFC, are awaiting their first victory and for the record, their fixtures to date have included Richmond RFC (H, 22 – 41), Fylde RFC (H, 0 – 47), Esher RFC (A, 53 – 15) and Hartpury College RFC (H, 3 – 41).

A lot has been said about Macclesfield RFC’s current injury crisis, which can only improve, but when the league table is taken into consideration, they have played 3 out of the top 4 highest placed teams, which is also a defining factor in their journey so far.

Macclesfield RFC Head Coach Giles Heagerty will have targeted Saturday's game as essential for their reversal of fortune and in that regard and DMPRFC Head Coaches John NEWTON and Danny BROWN will certainly not be underestimating them.

Last Saturday, DMPRFC’s foray down to the ‘Metropolis’ which is London, to Richmond RFC, although not a win, was a hugely successful trip for various reasons. It showed that the 1ST XV squad can compete at this level and although ‘underdogs’ prior to the fixture, Richmond RFC know they were fortunate to have hung on for the win.

Four good tries were scored via winger Callum MACKENZIE (2), No. 8 Ollie HODGSON and flanker Jack ALLCOCK, with fly half Garry LAW weighing in with 7 points (1 pen, 2 cons).

A very big thank you from DMPRFC for all those supporters who made the long journey to the Athletic Ground for the Richmond game. The dedication shown to support the players was greatly appreciated and yet another fine example of the ‘Mowden Family’ ethos that is warmly permeating throughout the club.

The two bonus points obtained sees DMPRFC in 12th spot in the league with 8 points and the squad selected for the game at the weekend, will be focussed on total commitment to add to their tally.

It is ‘Sponsors Day’ at DMPRFC on Saturday and on behalf of all connections at the club, the continued support from our sponsors is invaluable and very much appreciated.
