This weekend sees DMPRFC back on the road again and the lengthy trip to the College Stadium HQ of Hartpury College RFC in Gloucestershire.

Hartpury College RFC are enjoying somewhat of a run of victories to date and are currently unbeaten in their last 7 games. Their last defeat was back in the last weekend of November 2014, losing out away at Loughborough Students RFC (30 – 13). Their last home defeat was the week prior, when they came second to Rosslyn Park RFC (10 – 31).

Since then, their excellent form has seen them rise to 6th place in National League, with 59 points from 12 wins, including 6 try bonus points and 3 losing bonus points. Their top points man is full back Gareth Thompson with 176 points - 2 tries, 35 conversions and easily the league’s top penalty taker with 32 to his name. Their top try scorer is flanker Dan Thomas.

Last weekend Hartpury College RFC accounted for Fylde RFC (12 – 35), who had been up until that point unbeaten at their Woodlands Memorial Ground HQ, so DMPRFC are certainly up against it in this game.

In the corresponding game at home back in October 2014, Hartpury College RFC prevailed against DMPRFC (21 – 28), and although a brace from full back Henry ROBINSON and one for lock Rob CONQUEST, added to by 3 conversions from fly half Garry LAW, the visitors held out n the day.

Having said all that, DMPRFC are currently enjoying a decent run of form, with 4 wins out of the 4 games in 2015.

Last weekend, the home game at the Northern Echo Arena against visitors Esher RFC, was hard fought and fractious at times, against a big set of forwards. Tries from skipper Cameron MITCHELL, flanker Callum MACKENZIE and No.8 Andrew COX, added to with 3 penalties and 3 conversions from fly half Grant CONNON saw off the Esher RFC challenge.

That win sees DMPRFC edge ever further away from the relegation zone, currently occupied by Old Albanians RFC with 33 points (14th), Tynedale RFC with 32 points (15th) and Macclesfield RFC with 15 points (16th).

However, all three of these clubs will be battling for survival and will play a huge part in the fortunes of other clubs who are currently fortunate not to be in their position.

Please note, the kick off time at Hartpury Collegfe RFC is 2.30pm.
