At the weekend, the Durham County RFU 1ST XV beat an Eastern Counties 1ST XV (13 - 37) at Bury St. Edmunds RFC, with DMPRFC players scoring tries.

In the first of their two games in the Bill Beaumont County Championship, Division 2 (North), Durham County RFU Senior XV travelled to play Eastern Counties RFU Senior XV at Bury St. Edmunds RFC.

Eastern Counties had narrowly lost (27 - 26) away to East Midlands last weekend and were desperate to continue in the competition, with progrssion to the final Division 2 (North v South) final being held at Twickenham on 01.06.14.

The advantage of Eastern Counties having played together the previous week, could have been a factor in this fixture, however, a physical Durham County side saw this as no obstacle, scoring 7 tries against their hosts, with only 1 try in reply.

All DMPRFC players involved contributed to the victory, none more so than winger Ian WILSON, who weighed in with a hat-trick, whilst DMPRFC skipper Cameron MITCHELL scored another. Horden RFC lock Paul MALCOLM, Blaydon RFC lock Chris WEARMOUTH and Westoe RFC No.8 Scott POWELL were the other try scorers, with DMPRFC centre Gavin PAINTER kicking a convfersion.

The next game is at Darlington RFC's Blackwell Meadows HQ, this Saturday (24.05.14.) kick off 3pm against East Midlands, for a place in the final.
