Formed in 1923 and with the nickname 'Blood and Sand', Cambridge RFC have had several well known players in their ranks over the years including scrum half Richard Eric Gautrey 'Dicky' Jeeps CBE (1931 - 2016) who represented and captained England in the late 50's and early 60's, who was a British Lion and former RFU President, prop Robert Steven (Scotland, 1962), winger Andy Hancock (England), who scored a 70-yard try against Scotland in 1965 and more recently full back Alex Goode (England).

Saturday’s hosts currently sit in 8th position in the National One Table at the half way stage. Cambridge have won 8 of their 16 games so far, 2 of those wins coming at their home ground Volac Park. Their 2 home wins have come against Rosslyn Park and Bishop’s Stortford, with the majority of their victories coming on the road so far this season. Their top points scorer is Jack Green on 64, and their top try scorer is Albert Portsmouth with 7.
