Sunday 6th October saw a great exhibition of girls' rugby at the Vale of Lune County Festival. The County Durham U15 team are still in their infancy and for this season have teamed up with players from Cumbria to take on the other Northern counties.

The Festival presented a great opportunity for four Mowden girls to gain some great experience of highly competitive girls' rugby. Olivia Rowe, Lauren Swales and Alysha Bell - all still aged just 13 - joined Heather Thomson (14) in the County Durham/Cumbria squad. The girls did both club and county proud - showing great grit and determination against much stronger competition from Northumberland, Cheshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

This was an excellent day for players and spectators alike, with great enthusiasm evident from start to finish. Congratulations to Yorkshire, who won the U15 tournament.
