Premier 15s season ends in defeat at Sixways.

MDarlington Mowden Park Sharks’ second half comeback fell just short on the final day of the Premier 15s regular season at Sixways. The hosts opened the scoring inside 5 minutes, as captain Lark Davies powered over from close range. Megan Goddard converted, before Lindsay Jordan got the Sharks on the board with a well taken penalty on 21 minutes. Goddard then responded with a penalty of her own to restore her side’s 7 point advantage, before Rianna Manson was shown yellow for a high tackle. The Valkyries made the most of their numerical advantage, scoring their second try through Lisa Campbell. Goddard added a further penalty to take the half time scores to 18-3.

Thompson added her side’s third try shortly after the break, as the hosts looked like pulling clear for a comfortable win. The Sharks responded brilliantly however, as they have done throughout the season, to score 2 quickfire tries of their own. First Rianna Manson crossed from a driving maul, before a well worked backs try from Fiona Dewar who dotted down on the left wing. Neither try was converted, making the deficit 10 points heading into a nervy final 10 minutes. Goddard added a further penalty for the home side to stretch the lead to 13, before Rosie Blount raced away for the Sharks’ third try at the death.

The result meant that the Sharks’ will end the season in 8th place with 4 wins, while Worcester ended the season on a high with their first 2 wins in the competition.

A big thank you to all the coaches, volunteers and fans who have supported the Sharks this season, your backing is hugely appreciated by everyone at the club!
