Storm Brian takes control of wet & windy game at the Memorial Ground

DMP Sharks arrived in Liverpool just as Storm Brian hit the west coast! with continuous driving rain and high winds both teams bravely took to the field at Firwood Waterloo.

The weather conditions dictated the game with Waterloo playing with the wind in the first half and using it to their best advantage pinning Sharks in their 22. The wind making it hard for Sharks to kick themselves out of their half, fly half Katy Mclean put the ball back into the forwards to run it out. Sharks came the closet to scoring in the first half managing to put the ball through the hands spreading the ball wide but the amount of water on the pitch and ball made it impossible to complete the final passes needed to run the tries in. Some strong forward work led to a pick and go attempt of a try but the referee deemed it to be held up. Waterloo had the majority of procession for the half but couldn't turn this into points, with Sharks defence time and time again pushing them back.

The second half saw the rain and winds intensify, Sharks this time had the wind at their backs and used it to pin Waterloo back in their 22. No matter how much possession Sharks had, Waterloo managed to keep them just short of the try line.

Both teams tried everything in their power to play attacking rugby but in the end Storm Brian had had its say and a 0-0 draw meant both teams walked away with 2 points.

Next week DMP Sharks welcome Loughborough Lightning to the North East as they look to record their first league win of the season.
