Mowden Park travel to Scottish side Hawick on Saturday in their first game of pre-season

Tomorrow's trip to Hawick marks the first competitive hit-out for Danny Brown's side as they prepare for the 2018/19 National One season. The game against the Scottish side will be the first of 3 pre-season fixtures for the DMP side.

Ahead of the trip north, Garry Law said: "We're looking forward to tomorrow's game against Hawick in what will be a competitive and hopefully free flowing game after a solid month of pre-season training. Pre-season at times has been difficult due to various reasons, one being the weather and the hard ground limiting the contact work and scrumming etc. This game probably comes at a good time for the lads who can get out and get a game under their belts and move on to next week. Hopefully this should give us a base to go on from."

The format of the game will be 3 x 30minute periods, allowing both teams to be rotated freely: "The whole squad will be involved. There's a couple of little niggles in the squad due to the hard ground I mentioned and a few are unavailable, but we travel with a squad of 24 who will all feature at some point."

Focusing on the players involved on Saturday, Law added: "I'm looking forward to seeing the new lads get some game time and get some minutes in out on the pitch. In particular it will be great to see the returning players, the likes of Josh Hall and Charley Purkiss-McKendoo, pull on a Mowden shirt again alongside squad from last year who are looking to kick on from last season."

Mowden's first home game of pre-season will take place next Saturday 18th August against Yorkshire Carnegie. Tickets for the game will be available on the day priced at £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and FREE for U16s.
