Centre Ben Frankland Signs Up For 2019/20 Season

Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce that Ben Frankland has re-signed ahead of the 2019/20 National One season. The centre has made 96 appearances for the club over 4 seasons, and was pleased to be extending his stay at the Arena: “I've really enjoyed playing for Mowden and believe that we have everything in place to be challenging the top teams in this league.”

Mowden Park Head Coach Garry Law was equally delighted to be keeping the influential centre: “We’re pleased to have Frankie staying with us for another year. He’s been a consistent performer for us for a number of years, he picked up an early injury this season but he’s made a real impact since returning. We’re looking forward to him getting stuck into next season and keeping the continuity going within the squad.”

Frankland made his debut for Mowden in September 2015, having signed from local rivals Tynedale earlier that year. The 28 year old has been ever-present for the club since, including playing every game of the 2017/18 season. Reflecting on his current season, he added: “Personally I've missed too many games this season through injury. My highlight was getting back in the team feeling fully fit and being able to contribute to the games I have played.”

His 96 appearances for the club have yielded a good return of 23 tries, including a brace in Mowden’s most recent home game against Ampthill. Looking ahead to next season, Frankland was positive about his side’s chances: “I’m excited about the challenge the league will bring next year but I believe the club will challenge the top teams and excited to be a part of that. Personally I want to stay fit and help contribute to the team as we hopefully have a good run and a promotion push.”

You can see Ben and his Mowden teammates in action on Saturday when they take on Caldy at the Northern Echo Arena in a 3pm kick off. Tickets will be available on the day priced at £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and FREE for U16s.
