Dave Fisher commits future to the club ahead of 2019/20 campaign

A big reason for me staying was that there is a real family feel to the club and I really get on well with the guys on the team. I also think there is big things coming for Mowden Park.

Darlington Mowden Park are pleased to announce that forward Dave Fisher has re-signed for the club ahead of the 2019/20 National One season. The back rower has been ever present for Mowden since joining from National One rivals Plymouth in 2016, making over 50 appearances in his 3 seasons in the North East. On signing a new deal, Fisher commented: “A big reason for me staying was that there is a real family feel to the club and I really get on well with the guys on the team. I also think there is big things coming for Mowden Park.”

Since making his club debut against Moseley back in 2016, Fisher has been a regular in the 1st XV, covering both lock and back row. The 25 year-old played a part in every league game last season, helping Mowden to a club high 2nd place finish in National One. Asked about his highlights from his time at the club so far, Fisher added: “Besides all the nail biting wins, probably receiving the player of the year award last season and being named in the National One dream team at number 6.”

The current season has seen Fisher make 15 appearances, having missed the first 2 months of the season through an injury sustained in the pre-season defeat to Yorkshire Carnegie. Asked how he would assess the current campaign so far, Fisher said: “I think our current league position isn’t a fair reflection of how we perform as a team. Just a few unlucky away losses.”

Heading into his 4th full season with the club, Fisher had high hopes for his DMP side: “I think obviously first prize is championship and winning the league.”
