Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the re-signing of back row Joe Duffy ahead of the 2019/20 National One season. The Mowden flanker has made 15 appearances this season since joining from Durham University last summer. Asked about his main reason for re-signing with the club, Duffy commented: “The largest factor for me was the talent and potential within the squad, we have a real chance of pushing on next season with the aim of promotion. I feel as if this club is the best place to further develop my rugby skills.”

Mowden Park’s Director of Rugby Danny Brown was equally pleased with the announcement: “We’re delighted that Joe is staying with us for another season. His performances have shown the potential he has as a player and we look forward to seeing him develop further next season.”

The bulk of Duffy’s 15 appearance came in the first half of the season, before injury curtailed his 2018/19 campaign. Reflecting on the season as a whole, the back row added: “I have touched on the potential that Mowden have as a squad, therefore, I believe we are disappointed with finishing 7th this season. However, having said that, we have had a lot of standout performances to be proud of against the best teams in the league, and we ought to be performing at those high levels if we want to be up at the top of the table.”

Looking ahead to next season, Duffy was clear on his goals for himself and him team: “As a player, I want to continue to improve and expand upon my current game. As a team, we always have our standards high, we will be shooting for the top of the table and promotion.”
