Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce that South African winger Brandon Asher-Wood has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2019/20 season. The 26 year-old has made 28 appearances for the club since joining in summer 2017, and was pleased to be extending his stay: “I re-signed with Mowden Park because I am enjoying my rugby more and more, every game that I play.”

The South African has scored a total of 9 tries for the club across those 28 appearances, including tries both home and away against Rosslyn Park this season. Asked about his highlight of his time with the club so far, Asher-Wood commented: “Beating Coventry away from home last season was a special memory since joining the club.”

Asher-Wood has been on the sidelines since late January through injury, but has otherwise been a regular in Mowden’s back three, making 16 appearances prior to his injury. Asked how he would assess the current season so far, the winger added: “This season has been another reminder that we need to be performing for 80 minutes every Saturday if we are to be promoted.”

The 2019/20 season will be Asher-Wood’s third with the club, and one he had high ambitions for: “Taking that top spot should always be our target. One game at a time. I would like to get myself amongst the top try scorers by the end of the season.”
