The North East Bulls triumphed in last night's wheelchair rugby tournament

Tuesday night saw teams from North East Bulls, Phoenix House, Irwin Mitchell and Mowden Park compete in a four way tournament at Sedgefield Community College. The Mowden Park side, ably lead by coach Conquest, thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of the sport. The team was made up of Gibbs, Gill, Penman, Heaton and Fitzpatrick, as well as a star appearance from DMP Chairman, Mick Birch. After a baptism of fire against the fully fledged Bulls side, DMP triumphed over Irwin Mitchell before finishing with a narrow loss to Phoenix House.

The whole event was a big success and gave the Mowden Park players a real understanding of the sport as well as the challenges it brings. The skill level of the players there was incredible to watch, and the boys felt privileged to be involved in such a sociable tournament. Competitive yet well spirited, it was a night that was enjoyed by all. A huge thank you must go to the NE Bulls for organising the event, as well as Phoenix House and Irwin Mitchell for being such sporting opponents. DMP would also like to thank community sponsors ESRG for their continued support. We hope that the event will continue for years to come!

We wish the Bulls the best of luck in their remaining super series fixtures this year, as well as the finals this summer. Stay tuned for more news on the Bulls progress throughout the year!
