It is with much regret that the club announces the sad passing of big Jim DYSON, who died in the early hours of Saturday 12th July 2014, aged 79 years

Big Jim will be sadly missed by the whole of the Durham County Rugby community, an ex-President of the County during the 2011/12 season.

He was a founder member of Seaham RFC, as well as being DMPRFC 1ST XV Manager for many years, starting his rugby career at Houghton RFC.

As well as being heavily involved with rugby, he was a former professional footballer and renowned cricketer.

Big Jim's countenance was always sought by players and management at the club and in the wider rugby community and his advice was always sincere and from the heart.

There have been no funeral details announced at present, but once published, they will be circulated on this website.

In the meantime, our most sincere condolences to his family at this sad time.

"For when the One Great Scorer comes
To mark against your name,
He writes – not that you won or lost –
But how you played the Game."

Rest In Peace Big Jim Dyson.
