The 5K fun run – which has been named the Nun Run as runners are encouraged to dress up as nuns to add to the fun – has been organized as a joint event between the Great North Air Ambulance Service and DarlingtonOS.

A mass of holy runners will join together on Sunday October 5th at 11am to run, walk or crawl the picturesque 5k course at South Park in Darlington.

“This event is a chance for families to join together and have a lot of fun” said Julian Cound, Marketing Manager for DarlingtonOS and added “This will be a fantastic event, seeing a mass of nuns running around South Park on a Sunday morning – it should raise a few eyebrows but it’s all for a great cause.”

Recently daubed “The Great North Nun” by The Northern Echo, the Great North Air Ambulance Service and DarlingtonOS are on the look-out for fun-loving volunteers to enter into the spirit of the event and come dressed as a nun… or a bishop, or a monk…. or whatever tickles your wimple, and make it a run to remember.

You can pre-book your place via the Great North Air Ambulance Service website or turn up on the day and register. The entry fee is just £10 and every penny goes to the Great North Air Ambulance Service. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs including a special winners trophy kindly sponsored by Star Radio.

The next home fixture for Darlington Mowden Park is on Saturday 4th October when they welcome back Macclesfield to the Northern echo Arena. Kick-off is at 3pm. Adults £7, under 16s FREE.
