26 schools took part in this year’s Darlington Primary Tag Festival over 2 weeks at the Northern Echo Arena

Congratulations to all the schools who took part in Darlington’s annual Primary Tag Festival, played over 2 weeks here at the Northern Echo Arena. Today saw the finals contested between the top 6 schools from last week’s qualifiers, with St. Mary’s Cockerton the eventual winners. Darlington School Games Organiser Aly Raw was delighted with the success of this year’s tournament: “The children have really enjoyed the festival this year and you can see how inspiring it is for them to play in such an amazing venue. Mowden Park and their staff have been very supportive in helping us to deliver the festival as part of our ongoing partnership. A big thank you to Joanne and Michael from the community team, as well as all the players who have been so supportive over the past 2 weeks.”

Mowden Park’s community manager Anne Rose was equally pleased to be hosting the festival: “We’re delighted to help the Council’s Sports Development team to achieve their goals in delivering inspiring and healthy programmes to local children in the town.” Festival winners St. Mary’s Cockerton and runners up St. Augustine’s will now progress to the Tees Valley finals in November. Thank you to everyone who took part and we hope to see you again next year.
