Darlington NHS Musculoskeletal (MSK) service renew contract for further two years

The team from Darlington’s NHS MSK Physiotherapy triage and treat service has met the New Zealand All Blacks at the Northern Echo Arena, after signing a contract to continue providing the community with treatment services from the stadium for another 2 years.

The team from the service were excited to meet the reigning World Cup champions, who were using the arena as their official base during this year’s tournament, ahead of their fixture with Tonga at St James’ Park on October 9th.

The Darlington NHS Musculoskeletal (MSK) service, run by Virgin Care, which can be accessed by patients in Darlington without having to visit a GP first, has been based at the arena since 2012. The service recently agreed to continue using rooms at the stadium for another 2 years.

Jackie Bendle, Service Manager for Virgin Care said: “We love being based here at the Northern Echo Arena and patients love it too – all our rooms overlook the pitch which makes it a bright, open environment where people like spending time. It’s so easy to get here and has lots of free parking!”

“Patients registered in any of the GP surgeries in Darlington can get straight in contact with us for their muscular aches and pains without the need to see their GP first using a self-referral form and – if we can help them – treatment is free on the NHS.”

Lee Rust, Managing Director at Darlington Mowden Park said: “We are delighted that Virgin Care have renewed their contract with us.

“One of our key aims for the facility has been to bring businesses and services that complement our community hub vision and Virgin Care MSK and Physio is an excellent example and provides a great service.

“We are also looking forward to working with them going forward, including some joint work within our community scheme.”

Patients can access more information on the service and find out how to get treatment at www.virgincare.co.uk/darlington.
