A number of Darlington Mowden Park players were in Darlington Town Centre this morning as they took part in a charity cycle event.

Jake Henry, Michael Tait, Warren Seals, Matt Walsh and Pete Homan were all at the Oxfam Shop in the Town centre as they helped the store volunteers attempt to cycle 1875 miles to raise funds to provide vital supplies for refugees fleeing Syria.

Using stationary bikes the plan is to ride the equivalent of Syria to Germany in five days. The mileage represents the journey from Syria’s largest city Aleppo to the German border – a distance many refugees are prepared to travel to find safety.

With Mowden Parks Community team having already done their bit yesterday, today was the turn of the players as they helped the store close in on the target.

With one day remaining members of the public can also get involved by visiting the store at Skinnergate and getting on the bike.
